Don Valley West
Standing up for Don Valley West
Born and raised in the Don Valley area, Amara Possian is running in this election because she sees Andrea Horwath and the NDP as the only choice to bring change for the better to Ontario families.
Amara is a connector and bridge-builder who gets things done. While working at McGill, she led the process to engage students, staff, and faculty on building the university’s sustainability strategy. She's an experienced community organizer who has managed large-scale advocacy campaigns on issues like affordable housing and voter engagement.
Amara runs her own business where she helps non-profits design strategies for action. She also helps groups strengthen their organizational culture and infrastructure so everyone can do their best work. She has an undergraduate degree from McGill University and a Graduate Diploma in Social Innovation from the University of Waterloo.
Amara understands long wait times and hallway medicine first hand. Her grandmother was in and out of Sunnybrook Hospital for the last decade of her life. She will go to bat for a strong public health system as part of a government that puts people at the heart of every decision.
